Haiti Needs Volunteer Experts
Since its inception, FAVACA has supported over 350 volunteer projects to Haiti providing 530 technical experts and training 8,000 individuals. Due to the impact of natural disasters, FAVACA focuses special attention on disaster preparedness and mitigation.
We are urging firefighters, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and urban search and rescue professionals to volunteer their skills and time to help with the relief efforts in Haiti. Over the next year FAVACA can place volunteers for disaster recovery in the following areas:
           Health
                o Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics
                o Post-traumatic Stress Counselors
           Security
                o Certified Disaster and Emergency Responders
                o Relief Supply Distribution Specialists
                o Alternative Energy Experts
                o Structural Engineers to assess damage to infrastructure
Job Creation and Enterprise Development
FAVACA will focus on strengthening rural communities receiving former residents from affected communities.
                o Provide jobs focused on disaster recovery
                 o Build capacity of local businesses to foster rural resettlement
           Agriculture
                o Provide jobs to improve local food security
                o Teach more productive farming methods
                o Develop farming techniques restore depleted soil
FAVACA will leverage state dollars with federal, private and foundation funding to build the capacity of local organizations currently providing communities with food, water, shelter and medical services.
